I got an anonymous comment from someone today that really stung! I was told that "I am an Irresponsible person because I didn't have an amnio and abortion." (this is what you get when you join anti abortion groups on facebook) Apparently "I have ruined my daughters life by forcing her to grow up with a retarded brother." I wish this type of Ignorance didn't hurt but even though I have grown and know it is not factual. I have to admit it still leaves me feeling broken and ANGRY! I made this montage and am leaving it everywhere I visit and advocate online. Just in case anyone else stumbles across us and doesn't get it!! When I discussed this with Chanelle her response was......."What?? Don't they know I am lucky. I wish I could use the F word on them they are not smart!!" This alone has cushioned the blow :) I just hope and pray that no one ever ever ever says something so hurtful to her face. If someone ever called her brother retarded I think it would break her heart. This is the reason we even had a conversation. I am concerned that this could happen one day and I felt discussing it before hand might better prepare her. Tristan will be attending kindergarten at her school next year. Yea so basically the reality is? Hmm let's see?? I am not ruining anything, it is mean people like you that will make my daughters life harder. As you can see in the montage she and her brother are doing just fine!

Kari,
HUGS,I'm sorry that happened.There are some wicked and selfish people out there.I dread the day when someone says something like this to me.I also worry about people saying hateful things about Ruby to her siblings.All of Ruby's siblings adore her!The montage is beautiful
and I also enjoyed the one you posted in my comments the other day.Thank you!

LOVED THE MONTAGE!! Again, I am so sorry for what happened, what a JERK! They have no idea what it's like...our children are such BLESSINGS & GIFTS full of love & happiness!

Dillon was told by his own Spec Ed teacher that he was brain dead & that he would not benefit from a Speech Therapist...it would be like talking to a wall!!! Some people are just heartless!!!
{{HUGS TO YOU ALL}}

Yep that is the thing that sucks about the internet. Anonymity brings ignorance and hatred out in full force. You and I both know that 99% of siblings of someone who has T21 appreciate that their life is better from having Down syndrome a part of it. We are blessed, oh so blessed! HUGS

What is wrong with people?!

I absolutely LOVE your montage, it's beautiful! Both of your kids are gorgeous, and are blessed to have each other as well as you for a mom!

This is a lovely video! I'm grateful for ignorant people because they just make myself and my family stronger, stronger in our love for one another, stronger in our acceptance of those with disabilities, and stronger in our convections to speak out for our children. Stay strong!

UGH that stinks :(. Some people are just cruel! Your family is amazing and Chanelle is going to be a MUCH better adult with Tristan in her life... you better believe she won't be leaving nasty anonymous comments on anyone's blog!

The ignorance and absolute meanness of others just baffles me. I am so sorry that you had to endure that. ((hugs))

Kari,
I am so sorry someone was so cruel to you. I cannot understand how some people can think this, especially after knowing my daughter. Tristan is such a wonderful little boy and Chanelle is a true hero. The internet can be a fun place to meet new friends, unfortunately, there are people like that we have to deal with. ((HUGS))
